In October 2006, the Social Security Administration (SSA) replaced the Benefits Planning, Assistance and Outreach Program (BPA&O) with the Work Incentives Planning and Assistance (WIPA) program. The Program has been renamed because of an increased emphasis on work incentives, return to work supports and jobs for beneficiaries.

As a provider of its Youth Work Readiness Program, the Center is part of the Chenango-Delaware-Otsego Workforce Investment Area’s Out of School Youth Program. This Out of School Youth Program provides a variety of services and supports to youth age 16-22 who are not currently enrolled in school and who are looking for employment or training that will result in employment.
Based upon knowledge, skills and qualities important to area employers, the Center has developed a Youth Work Readiness Program designed to assist identified youth enrolled in the Out of School Youth Program to learn, develop and obtain the knowledge, skills and qualities important to employers.

The Center has an agreement with VESID to provide an orientation to VESID services for interested job seekers with disabilities in Sidney, NY
The Fast Track Program is the result of an agreement between the Catskill Center for Independence and VESID aimed at accelerating the VESID application process. The Center provides this service for VESID in a number of identified schools in Delaware and Chenango Counties as well as after VESID orientations in Sidney, NY.
